Security Watch: Fortinet launches new WLAN solutions for secure cloud-managed enterprise Wi-Fi

Fortinet has announced that their new FortiAP-S series of cloud-based wireless LAN (WLAN) access points (APs) have been certified for deployment in the ANZ region. They feature Fortinet's cybersecurity technology running directly on the FortiAP-S and incorporate the latest security updates from Fortinet's industry-leading FortiGuard Labs Threat Intelligence team.

Fortinet’s A/NZ Director of Engineering & Services Gary Gardiner says, “The FortiAP-S series access points combine the flexibility of cloud management, the latest generation of wireless technology and the proven security of FortiGuard.

Management of the new access points can be conducted from a browser-based cloud portal so administrators can apply mobile-specific security policies and updates directly to the FortiAP-S.

These new APs are can be easily deployed at remote offices or used in larger offices where the scalability of cloud management makes the solution cost-effective for distributed enterprises that may have dozens (or hundreds) of sites according to Gardiner.

The FortiAP-S series APs include intrusion prevention, web filtering, rogue AP detection, antivirus, granular application controls running directly on the access point.
