MYOB seeks cyber security chief

ASX-listed accounting software company creates new cyber security position

MYOB has begun hunting for an executive to head up cyber security. The accounting software vendor is seeking a chief cyber security officer to oversee information security, disaster recovery and business continuity planning.

“The creation of a chief cyber security officer role is a natural progression in the maturing of our overall cyber and IT security practices across the MYOB business,” MYOB’s chief financial officer, Richard Moore, told Computerworld Australia.

MYOB returned to the ASX last year after being taken private in 2009. The company’s IPO raised $833.1 million.

“As a listed company, with a growing client base now enjoying the benefits of our cloud solutions, the role of protecting both our clients and other stakeholders in an increasingly complex cyber security landscape is one which we take seriously,” Moore said.

“We are and will continue to invest in both technology solutions and specialist people, to ensure that we are a leader in cyber security practices.”

The chief cyber security officer will be based in Melbourne and report to the CFO.

“You will provide clear focus and direction, ensuring the efficient and effective management and delivery of best practice ICT and Cyber security governance, compliance practices and processes across the whole organisation,” MYOB’s advertisement for the position states.

“You will provide both strategic and tactical direction to C-Level Executive management as well as the various software engineering, internal IT and other related operational teams across the business.”

Applications close on 14 August.
