London Grid signs identity management deal with Atos

Identity authentication services will be available to London boroughs and other UK public bodies

London Grid Ltd, a London Grid for Learning subsidiary, has signed a framework contract with Atos for identity management services.

The services will be initially for members of the LondonPSN, the fibre optic network provided by Virgin Media Business that connects London boroughs and other public bodies in the region.

More than 2,000 schools in the capital are being transferred to the network over the next year, while Camden Council is one of the first councils to connect to the PSN.

As well as the 33 London boroughs, other local government bodies and boroughs across the UK will also have access to the framework agreement.

Atos (formerly Atos Origin), working with the Post Office and IT security firm Verisec, will deliver its eTHOS Identity Authentication service through the framework.

The service covers a range of two-factor credentials for one-time passwords, local edge services for remote access, and federated core identity provider services, while the Post Office will provide the collection service for tokens.

Organisations purchasing services through the contract will be charged on an output-based, per user pricing model.
