Advice for Aspiring CSOs

You want to sit in the big chair and take over the role of CSO or CISO for your company? Do you really know what you're getting your self into? At the recent RSA Conference, we asked some experts for what advice they'd give to aspiring CSOs and CISOs.

Chris Elisan – RSA
"I always say – listen to the experts in your company and listen to the experts outside your company. But always make intelligent decisions based on real data. I've done this since 1998. I always recognise that there are so many things that I don’t know. I listen to people inside and outside the company and make my decisions based on reality".

Peter Tran – RSA
"Get to know security operations and tactics very, very well because the days of a CISO who just has to manage resources and manage risk and compliance are going away very quickly. If you want that seat, know the threat landscape, know the operations and know the tactics and you'll have a great foundation"
